Arraste not fearing for La Real future

Jagoba Arrasate insists he isn’t putting any more emphasis on Real Sociedad’s visit to Cordoba because of speculation about his future.

It was reported in the Spanish Press that a defeat against La Real’s fellow strugglers would bring an end to Arrasate’s tenure at Anoeta.

Pepe Mel, formerly of Real Betis and West Bromwich Albion, is said to have been contacted as a potential replacement, with the club also reaching out to Juande Ramos, ex of Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Dnipro.

“I agree we’re playing for La Real. It’s important for the team after the Getafe result and we can’t lose again,” Arrasate told reporters, AS says, when he was asked if the match was as much about him as the club.

“We need a win to be a turning point in our season.

“The game is important for the team and I can’t be thinking that I’ve only got a week or two, or until the end of the season.

“I’ve always talked with the President and been encouraged by the people around me. I want to win to move up the League regardless of what has been written.

“To get out of this situation we need home and away wins. We’re in a situation where we need a lot out of the matches.

“There is no magic wand and we won’t win simply by naming a different XI. I understand some changes are needed and we have to let go a little more.

“I won’t say I’m calm because the team’s situation isn’t good but it’s better to analyse things from a position of comfort. I’m thinking about how to move forward.”
