Garcia: Eibar need points not plaudits

Eibar midfielder Dani Garcia says it is imperative his team picks up points and not just praise in the next few games.

The minnows went down 3-0 to Barcelona at Camp Nou over the weekend and, while they put on a performance that had the neutrals applauding them, Garcia [pictured, right] feels it is not enough if they want to make any kind of mark in La Liga this season.

“Against Barca we suffered from lapses in concentration. We had a plan but the errors didn’t get us a point. I wasn’t happy with the last 60 minutes,” he told a Press conference at Ipurua.

“We have to forget about the praise that we played well. In the next three games – one at home to Granada and two consecutive away matches at Rayo Vallecano and Malaga – we have to show more and start taking points.

“Our next fixture is against Granada and they will want the points after a losing streak, so it will be very difficult.

“We need the fans at Ipurua to get behind us on Saturday. We need to win to show that Ipurua is a fortress and we can’t let anyone take the points away from us on our own ground.

“Granada are an experienced side that is used to being involved in relegation battles, so it will be a close game between two similar teams,” he asserted.
