Levante appoint Alcaraz

Levante have confirmed the appointment of Lucas Alcaraz as Coach after Jose Luis Mendilibar was sacked.

Alcaraz was last in charge at Granada, leading his hometown club last season before he was replaced by Joaquin Caparros. Caparros left Levante to take the post at Los Carmenes.

The 48-year-old Alcaraz has also led Recreativo Huelva, Racing Santander, Xerez, Murcia, Cordoba and Almeria, among others.

Mendilibar’s services were dispensed with days after Les Granotes were beaten 5-0 by Real Madrid, the rout leaving the Valencia side with five points from their first eight games.

It is the second coaching change in the Primera in a matter of days after Albert Ferrer was removed from the Cordoba bench, displaced by Miroslav Djukic.
