La Liga 123 side Almeria have dismissed Coach Lucas Alcaraz after just five months in charge, with the club threatened by relegation.
The experienced 51-year-old has been managing across Spain’s top two divisions since 1995 and managed just six wins and 24 points in his 21 matches in charge.
Alcaraz most recently coached Granada in Spain’s top flight last season before having a brief stint as Algeria manager before his appointment at the Juegos Mediterraneos in November.
The Andalusian club have now appointed B team coach Francisco Javier "Fran" Fernandez until the end of the campaign, having previously won seven points in three games across previous interim spells.
Almeria have struggled since their 2015 relegation from La Liga, finishing 18th and 15th while they currently sit 18th – above Cordoba and the relegation zone on goal difference only, with six games remaining.
