Real Madrid legend Jorge Valdano believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s search for perfection is at the heart of his competition with Lionel Messi.
A book, Cristiano: Di Stefano of our Time, has been released and Valdano attended the launch, and paid tribute to Ronaldo as well as Messi.
“Cristiano and Messi are defining an era,” Valdano said, Marca reports.
“We are privileged because we are living in a time when we are seeing one of the greatest individual battles of all time.
“Cristiano never tires of searching for perfection and in the end is going to get a little better every year, because of his ambition and professionalism.
“I don’t know if the World Cup comes into consideration [for the Ballon d’Or] but the displays of Cristiano have been dazzling.”
