Xavi Hernandez has responded to Iker Casillas’s comments in an interview with journalist Inaki Gabilondo on Monday.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas revealed that the pair had a telephone conversation during which they discussed the controversial incidents that took place in games between Real Madrid and Barcelona back in 2011.
Casillas, contrary to reports in Spain at the time, claims he did not apologise to the Barca midfielder or the Catalan club, something Xavi confirmed as being correct.
“I had a tense conversation with Iker. It was also with Vicente del Bosque and Carles Puyol but it was for the good of Spanish football.
“Yes, it was tense but what Iker said is right,” said Xavi, who was speaking at the opening of a pitch that bears his name and is sponsored by the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
