Marcelino: Madrid have everything

Villarreal Coach Marcelino has warned his side are up against a complete team when Real Madrid visit El Madrigal.

Madrid have scored 13 goals in their past two League games and Cristiano Ronaldo has seven of them, scoring a hat-trick in the 8-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna and four in the victory against Elche.

Marcelino told his pre-match Press conference that Los Blancos have endless weapons in their armoury, particularly now Ronaldo is fully fit.

“Madrid is a team that has everything: tremendous physically, they attack well, counter-attack well, they have precision, speed…they have everything a team can have,” AS quotes the Coach as saying.

“And now Cristiano is fit, that’s the decisive factor. At first they had a harder time winning.

“The Madrid goalkeepers are not a weakness. They have two outstanding goalkeepers. We need to have a lot of shots whoever is the goalkeeper.”

Marcelino added that he isn’t bothered by the clause in Denis Cheryshev’s loan agreement that means he could only play against Madrid if Villarreal paid a reported €200,000.

“I don’t consider this an issue. There is a club that has the rights to a player and does what they feel is appropriate,” he continued.

“It’s not a problem. The club that owns his rights is entitled to do this.”

Marcelino did however lament the Yellow Submarine’s schedule, having played a day later than Madrid in midweek.

“We will play four games in 10 days and we are the only team in the entire Division that played on Wednesday and had less than two days’ rest,” he protested.

“It’s something tangible but we won’t mourn. I’d rather have more rest but there’s no turning back.

“I’m expecting a full stadium and a terrific atmosphere because that will help the team.

“It’s a nice, hard game, very appealing. We’re playing the champions of the Champions League, a great team, and we go into the game hopeful of being able to beat them.”
