Gaizka Garitano professed himself ‘delighted’ at Eibar’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal at Ipurua on Wednesday night.
Furthermore, the Eibar boss told a post-match Press conference that the result tasted more like a victory as it was achieved against one of the top sides in La Liga.
“I’m happy with a draw because Villarreal are a team that is playing in Europe. In fact it feels more like a win because they have a squad full of internationals”, he admitted.
The hosts, who made four changes to the team that won at Elche last Friday, took an early lead through Mikel Arruabarrena before Gerard Moreno salvaged a point for the Yellow Submarine on 71 minutes.
“We played with great intensity considering we’ve played three matches in nine days and I had to rotate our squad to give others an opportunity.
“With such a high tempo to our game I can’t always pick the same players,” explained Garitano.
