Negredo boost for Valencia

Valencia have been given a boost with the news that Alvaro Negredo has returned to training.

The Spanish international was signed from Manchester City on transfer deadline day but arrived injured after a July operation on the fifth metatarsal on his right foot, suffered whilst playing in a pre-season friendly for the Premier League outfit.

The initial prognosis was that the 29-year-old would be sidelined for three months. However, Los Che boss Nuno Espirito Santo has now brought forward his recovery time from the original estimate of October 20 and is hoping he might be available for the clash with Atletico Madrid at the beginning of that month.

The game at Mestalla is also due to coincide with the visit of Peter Lim, who is currently in the process of completing his takeover of the club.
