Marcelino feels Villarreal have to get used to playing in the League and Europa League after the come-from-behind win over Rayo Vallecano.
Rayo had a two-goal lead but contrived to lose 4-2, with Marcelino telling reporters his side’s slow start was down to not being used to playing a Thursday-Sunday schedule.
“In the first half we struggled to get into the game and Rayo got on top quickly,” he said, according to AS.
“We have to adapt to playing every three days knowing that the important thing in the League is playing to a very high level.
“We knew this game was important because we hadn’t won in our last two. We came having made a big effort in the Europa League and it wasn’t easy.
“It’s very difficult to come back from two goals down. Rayo dominated and that made the doubts grow.
“It was important to score and make it 2-1 before half time. After that we played all the football and it was a huge second half.
“To come back from 2-0 down you have to do a lot of things very well and I think we did.”
