Reyes still motivated at Sevilla

Sevilla’s Jose Antonio Reyes says he is still motivated at the club despite not getting much of a look-in this season.

The former Arsenal and Real Madrid man has struggled for playing time under Unai Emery, yet stressed he is working hard to grab the opportunity with both hands if it comes along.

“It’s the Coach who decides who plays and I must accept his decision with respect,” Reyes told a Press conference before Sevilla’s Europa League clash with Feyenoord.

“I give my best at every training session and I strive to improve every day, so I need to work hard and train hard for when my chance arrives.

“I’ll prove it out there on the pitch, although nothing has changed and I still have the same motivation.”

Nonetheless, the 31-year-old confessed he is tired of all the speculation in the media regarding his future at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

“I’ve got a one-year contract and I’m going to see it out. I’ve had a lot of offers, the way things are here, but some of the things that have been said are not true.

“At no time has anybody from the club spoken to me and offered me a free transfer,” he revealed.

Looking ahead to Sevilla’s debut in this season’s Europa League, Reyes is adamant last term’s triumphant campaign in the competition should be consigned to the past.

“The past is the past so we have to forget about the trophy we won in Turin. We’re going to have to suffer to go far again this time.

“But it’s a competition that has been good to us. It’s a great tournament and one we like,” he admitted.
