Atletico Madrid sporting director Jose Luis Caminero has welcomed the club’s signing of Torino’s Alessio Cerci.
Cerci, 27, was part of the Italy squad at the World Cup and Atletico on Sunday night confirmed an agreement with his club.
Subject to Cerci passing a medical he will sign a three-year deal at Vicente Calderon and Caminero spoke of what the forward will bring to the club.
“The agreement for a transfer for Cerci reached with Torino is a joy for everyone,” Caminero said.
“It was a clear objective to strengthen our squad for all the challenges that lie ahead this season.
“We’ve had to make a major effort [for Cerci] after all operations this summer but we are convinced it was worth it because we consider him a key piece of our team.
“He will provide assists, speed and goals and give our game more attacking alternatives.”
