Enrique on Iniesta injury & Douglas

Luis Enrique has revealed that Andres Iniesta will not play against Villarreal tomorrow, and is delighted that Douglas has signed.

The Blaugrana take on the Yellow Submarine at El Madrigal on Sunday, but they will do so without the midfielder, who has a slight knee pain.

"Iniesta has some knee discomfort. We value player's opinion a lot and together with the doctors we decided he won't play,” the tactician told reporters.

“We have several options for that position, players with different qualities. I don't want to give anything away, but Xavi is certainly an option for us.

“I'm very happy that Douglas has joined. It was worth it, we needed someone with his attacking qualities.

Douglas is a player who can cover the whole wing, a typical Brazilian full back. He'll help us in defence and in attack. It’s a good signing.”

Enrique then commented on Gerard Pique not being picked for the Spain squad because of an injury and Barca’s Champions League group, which sees them face Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax and APOEL.

“Pique not called up by Spain because of hip discomfort? He trained normally this week, he can play tomorrow.

“Our Champions League group is both difficult and attractive. I'll see ex-teammates like Blanc and De Boer again, which is always nice.”
