Report: Barca sign Douglas

Barcelona have agreed to sign Sao Paulo right-back Douglas for €6m, reports in Brazil and Spain claim.

Sport cite reports from Brazil that quote the Sao Paulo President as saying the deal has been done and Douglas will be loaned back to the club until the summer of 2015.

“Barcelona have purchased Douglas and he has been loaned back for one year. He will go to Spain in 2015,” Carlos Miguel Aidar said.

Douglas is understood to be Barca’s replacement for Dani Alves, whose contract will expire at the end of the season.

Barca could by then be under a transfer ban after FIFA yesterday rejected the club’s appeal against a punishment for the signing of underage players.

FIFA have suspended Barca from signing anyone for two transfer windows from January 2015, but the club are appealing the sanction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Sao Paulo are said to have owned 60% of Douglas’ rights, with the other 40% belonging to the Traffic agency.
