Atletico Madrid’s Raul Garcia says the club’s aim for the season is to compete to win another trophy.
The Spanish champions were a revelation last season, winning the La Liga title and coming within seconds of winning the Champions League final against arch rivals Real Madrid.
The Rojiblancos thrashed German side Wolfsburg 5-1 in their most recent friendly and, speaking during an interview, the player is convinced that the team can continue where they left off last terms as long as they maintain their approach.
“We always say that we know how we play and how we are working in order to arrive at the start of the season in good shape,” Garcia said.
“It’s about working and helping the team. Each year there is a new season, with new players and we all need to contribute what we have.
“Every player is different, others with more or less quality come in. The intention is that everyone adapts so that we can benefit from them.
“We have always said that all the players need to contribute. Whether you play or not you need to be there for the boss and the team to benefit from you.
“We need to continue contributing in order to achieve important things. That is what we have done and that is what we want to continue doing.
“In Wolfsburg we showed that the team is in good shape and playing with great intensity as always. The aim now is to compete to win another trophy.
“We need to stay calm because we are on the right track.”
