Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has described Keylor Navas as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
The Costa Rican shot-stopper arrives at Santiago Bernabeu from Levante following a hugely impressive World Cup campaign for his country.
“We have an excellent squad but we need to continue growing,” Perez told reporters this afternoon. “Football is becoming more and more competitive.
“Today we are presenting one of the best goalkeepers in the world, a man who has shown his enormous professionalism and his capability of making sacrifices.
“He had offers from the biggest clubs in Europe but he wanted to play for Madrid. It is the first time a Costa Rican will wear the Real Madrid shirt in 112 years of history.
“Keylor Navas was the goalkeeper with the most saves during the last Liga and one of the stars of the Brazil World Cup.”
Perez also reserved a few words for Navas himself.
“The fans will be behind you but they also will expect the best from you. Don’t forget that. You have worked very hard to live this moment.
“You are part of Real Madrid and you will have all of Madridismo and Costa Rica behind you.”
