Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta believes Xavi Hernandez personifies the club’s style of play and is pleased the midfielder stayed.
Xavi was strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou this summer, switches to the United States or the Middle East among the mooted transfers.
But the veteran is still at Barca and Zubi is particularly pleased by that, believing Xavi has plenty still to offer.
“He represents Barca’s way of playing,” AS reports Zubizarreta as saying.
“He does his job and the No. 6 is his. He’s pre-season has been extraordinary, as if nothing happened. He’s enjoying his football and loving it again.”
