Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has said that while he is flattered to be linked with Barcelona, he’s staying at Spurs.
Vertonghen’s name has been mentioned as a candidate to move to Camp Nou as Barca search for a second defensive signing of the summer, but he has told Belgian radio he will remain at White Hart Lane.
“I would like to stay at Tottenham,” Mundo Deportivo reports Vertonghen as saying.
“The interest of a club like Barcelona is confirmation that you’re doing well. But I consider my contract extension a great sign of confidence.”
Vertonghen is expected to sign a new deal with Spurs, having moved to the Premier League in 2012.
