Atleti to exploit Callejon-Benitez row?

Atletico Madrid could take advantage of a falling out between Jose Callejon and Napoli Coach Rafael Benitez.

AS reports that Callejon was yesterday kicked out of training by Benitez, who found fault with the attitude of the forward.

It’s also claimed that Atletico earlier this summer made a €21m offer for the former Real Madrid youngster, an approach rejected out of hand by Napoli, who wanted €30m.

Atletico are still searching for another attacker to supplement Mario Mandzukic and could look to get Callejon for a lower price now he appears to be on the wrong side of Benitez.

But there’s no guarantee Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli President, will be minded to negotiate a lower fee for Callejon and Callejon’s importance to Benitez’s team could bring all parties to a resolution.

Antoine Griezmann is expected to join Atletico from Real Sociedad and Diego Simeone wants Callejon too, although Santi Cazorla, the Arsenal midfielder, has also been linked, AS add.
