Report: Atletico ask PSG for Pastore

Atletico Madrid have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the possible signing of playmaker Javier Pastore.

AS report that Diego Simeone sees the former Palermo midfielder as potentially a key part of his team next season, taking a similar role to one held in the past by Diego Ribas.

It’s felt that Pastore doesn’t have the full confidence of PSG Coach Laurent Blanc and made only 18 starts for the club last season, claiming just one goal and one assist.

There has been talk of an Atletico move for Pastore in the past and he has at least once been close to moving to Vicente Calderon.

But Atletico are likely to face competition for the Argentine’s signing, with Juventus mentioned by AS.

Atletico are considering how they would afford Pastore as PSG would look to recoup a significant percentage of the €42m they paid in 2011 for Pastore. Pastore also receives €4m per year in wages.
