Granero could stay at QPR

Real Sociedad are negotiating with Queens Park Rangers for Esteban Granero but the midfielder could remain with the Premier League new boys.

Granero spent last season at Anoeta and though his campaign ended early with a series knee injury suffered in September, Jagoba Arrasate wants to keep the 27-year-old, according to Marca.

“He is a player we know and want to be here,” the Coach said last week.

But Granero has resumed pre-season training with QPR and has been praised by manager Harry Redknapp, who said he believes Granero wants to continue at Loftus Road.

“He’s a wonderful person and has a good character,” Redknapp is quoted as saying. “He wants to stay here and I hope he has a good season.”

The clubs have been speaking for a while regarding Granero but haven’t been close to an agreement, which could see Granero in the Premier League once more.

He made 27 appearances the last time QPR played in the top flight but couldn’t prevent relegation, Redknapp overseeing promotion last year via the play-offs.
