Falcao ‘fit but cautious’

Radamel Falcao has declared himself fit but admits he is taking care, as Real Madrid are again linked with a move for the Monaco forward.

Falcao in January suffered a serious injury to his left knee that ended his season and eventually ruled him out of the World Cup.

Reports in Spain have today said Madrid are considering the former Atletico Madrid striker after selling Alvaro Morata to Juventus.

Falcao, meanwhile, says he won’t rush himself back into action for fear of further damaging his troublesome knee.

“I’m in tune to play but in these cases we have to be cautious,” AS quotes the Colombia international as saying.

“I don’t want to rush something that’s coming along. [My knee] will go under total scrutiny.

“Little by little I’m feeling better. The important thing is to be fully recovered for the team.

“I want to enjoy these moments. I appreciate the power, the training, movement, running with my teammates. Hopefully I’ll quickly be at a high level, how I want to be, for the sake of Monaco and Colombia.”

Falcao also reflected on Colombia’s successful World Cup, Los Cafeteros reaching the quarter-finals even without El Tigre.

“This team can play as equals to anyone,” he said. “They can be proud of what James Rodriguez did.

“They are on everyone’s lips and at a high level.”
