Xavi sights set on MLS

Xavi Hernandez wants to leave Barcelona and is determined to move to MLS, with a number of offers on the table.

Marca reports that the offers from the United States aren’t as lucrative as they were earlier this year but the midfielder is still keen to make the switch.

Talks are underway with New York City, New York Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders, with the offers understood to be half of what Xavi would get if he saw out the final two years of his Barca contract.

Xavi receives €12m a year at Camp Nou and is speaking with the club about paying part of his wages, while he is also looking to a move to Qatar, which would pay better than if he moved to MLS.

Barca are also understood to be reluctant to allow Xavi to leave on a free transfer and if they were to pay part of his wages, would look for a larger transfer fee in return.
