Report: Scolari to leave Brazil post

Reports in Brazil say Luiz Felipe Scolari is to step down as Coach of the national team now the World Cup has come to an end.

Brazil ended in fourth place after a semi-final humiliation against Germany, losing 7-1, and a third-place play-off defeat against the Netherlands.

The BBC cites reports from Brazilian broadcaster Globo which claim that Scolari has resigned, even though his contract with the Brazilian federation, the CBF, was due to expire.

Scolari is in his second spell as Brazil Coach, having won the tournament with his country in 2002. He has also taken charge of the Portugal team, Premier League side Chelsea and numerous clubs in Brazil.

He was re-appointed with the national team in 2012 and took Brazil to victory in last year’s Confederations Cup, also played on home soil.
