Arrasate encouraged by pre-season

Real Sociedad Coach Jagoba Arrasate has given his first Press conference of the season, sharing an update on his side’s readiness for the campaign.

AS reports Arrasate as confirming the team is a long way from being ready but says he isn’t worried, as that’s what pre-season is for.

“It’s a formality and [the first friendly] went as expected, no one was injured and the players accumulated minutes,” AS reports the Coach as saying.

“It was a typical pre-season game. We made a lot of mistakes but the important thing is we have already begun to improve and I understand that from now on we will go on to more.”

La Real are in the Europa League next season but have an early final qualifier, with Arrasate targeting the end of July for his player to be match sharp.

“Our goal is clear – to put the team in shape and ready for July 31,” he confirmed.

“That’s just three weeks and we know we have to improve and be ready for the first round. That’s our goal, nothing more.”

Arrasate also acknowledged that he wants to add a midfielder to his squad, but says he isn’t in a rush to do so.

“We are watching the situation of the market and it’s true we’re waiting for a midfielder, but I also say that we can compete with what we have now,” he continued.
