Scolari: I’m marked by defeat

Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted that his career has been ‘marked’ by the semi-final defeat to Germany, but is now focused on the third-place play-off.

The Selecao were embarrassed 7-1 by the Mannschaft on Tuesday, but the Coach has insisted that he now wants to put all his efforts into beating the Netherlands in Brasilia this evening.

“I know my career will be marked by this defeat, but we have an obligation to move on and think about the next goal, which in this case is the match for third place in Brasilia,” he told reporters.

“I know it’s a much smaller dream that we all wanted, but we have to honour the shirt of the national team.

“We made the semi-finals, the top four teams in the world. And there were a lot of good teams that were knocked out before us.”

Brazil will be without Neymar, who has a fractured vertebra in his back – but captain Thiago Silva will be back from suspension.
