Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has described Brazil’s 7-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to Germany as ‘a nightmare.’
Alves didn’t play in the game after losing his place to Maicon in the prior round but said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing as he watched on from the bench.
“It was like the nightmares that sometimes happen in football,” AS reports Alves as saying.
“In not a single game of football has this happened to me. We were against a very good team, complete in all areas.
“We lost the game in six minutes. In the 31 years of my life I have never seen a six minutes as unexplained as ours.”
Alves was asked if Coach Felipe Scolari should continue in his position and deferred to his superiors, but said everyone around the team takes their share of the blame for the result.
“It’s not our decision. We share responsibilities,” he added.
“We are part of a group and everyone has some responsibility. Decisions are made by others, but I am proud to have been part of this great team, but in a game like this you really get hurt.”
