“I don’t know how to thank everyone for the love in the thousands of messages of support I have received since Friday," Neymar wrote on his official Instagram page.
“I’d like to know how to speak more than one language to be able to thank everyone. It has been these messages which have made the last few days less painful.
“Today I will attend the Brazil – Germany match but will watch from the sidelines. I will be one more among 200m fans and I know how important our support will be for those on the pitch.
“For this I would like to thank everyone who has sent positive energy to me. I hope that we can all stay together until the last second because I really, really want to be with everyone on the pitch next Sunday at the Maracana [celebrating].”
