Espanyol aren’t worried by the situation with Casilla’s contract as if he stays at the club, they will have time to persuade him to sign fresh terms.
Even if Casilla declines to resign with the Catalans, Espanyol say they will have no doubt over his professionalism as his contract winds down.
Espanyol are said to have acknowledged, however, that they should have done more to tie down Casilla earlier in his contract, to avoid the situation arising.
