Adriano ready to fight for place

Adriano has said he will convince Luis Enrique he deserves to have a place in the Barcelona side amid rumours of an exit

Marca reports an interview with the Brazilian, who is currently on holiday in Menorca after missing out on a place in his country’s squad for the World Cup.

Adriano explained his decision not to travel home for the tournament, and offered his take on his future at Camp Nou.

“My wife and I decided to come here and watch on TV since I wasn’t in the national team,” he said.

“I missed the World Cup in my country but I am enjoying it here. It’s a very big disappointment not to play in the World Cup.

“I have a contract [with Barca] until 2017. I know there is interest from other clubs but as the President didn’t tell me anything, I’ll still try to convince [the Coach] that I can play.

“I want to talk with the Coach and set the record straight. Rumours about me leaving aren’t true and I want to start the season without rumours about whether I go or not.”
