It has been confirmed that Ivan Rakitic will replace Cesc Fabregas as Barcelona’s No.4 next season.
The Croatia arrived in the Catalan capital on Monday evening where he said his goodbyes to former side Sevilla.
But this morning the playmaker went to the Blaugrana’s training centre where he completed his medical and signed his contract.
The 27-year-old has since been presented to the fans at Camp Nou, where it was revealed he will take over Fabregas’ No.4.
A statement on the club’s official website said: “ Ivan Rakitic passed his medical at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning ahead of signing the new five-year deal with FC Barcelona at the Club offices at the Camp Nou.
“The Croat weighed in at 73 kilos and carried out a series of medical tests, including heart and strength tests, at the medical centre at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper for about an hour.”
