Algeria defender Madjid Bougherra has spoken of his pride in the team after the World Cup defeat to Germany.
The Fennec Foxes were eliminated 2-1 after extra time in a game that saw Algeria carve Germany open a number of times but struggle to make the breakthrough.
Speaking after the match, Bougherra, an extra time substitute, insisted the team should have their heads high.
“We can be proud of this team,” L’Equipe report Bougherra as telling beIn Sports.
“Thank you to all of those who worked hard for us. Algeria are a good team and now we are respected.
“I hope the value of Algerian players will rise because we deserve it and we’re underestimated.
“There are many positives. Thank you to the Algerian public, who have always been behind us, and the Brazilians who supported the team.”
