Uruguay Coach Oscar Tabarez accepts his team were second best in their 2-0 World Cup defeat to Colombia.
Two goals by James Rodriguez settled the South American Round of 16 derby, meaning Tabarez’s side have now reached the end of their stay in Brazil.
“We knew that Colombia are a great team,” Tabarez admitted post-match at the Maracana.
“The first goal was 100 per cent down to the person who scored it. It was one of the best goals of the World Cup.
“We need to accept the defeat, congratulate Colombia and wish them luck as they are a South American team.
“We have gained experience and we went through a difficult situation. Today we happened to lose against a great team.”
