Colombia Coach Jose Pekerman says his team deserve to be in the World Cup quarter-finals after their 2-0 win over Uruguay.
Two goals by James Rodriguez ensured the South Americans reached the last eight of the tournament for the first time in their history.
“We knew who we were going up against,” Pekerman said after the final whistle at the Maracana.
“Uruguay are a very difficult team and they have a great Coach.
“It is very important to know your opponents. All of our work has yielded its results.
“Congratulations to all the Colombian public. The people of Colombia deserve it and I am happy to be here [in charge of the team].”
