Falcao says he’s going to Madrid

Reports in the Spanish Press this morning claims that Radamel Falcao has told friends that he will play for Real Madrid next season.

Stories emerged last week that the Colombia international was on his way to Santiago Bernabeu this summer after a miserable season for Monaco.

The striker was thought to be desperate to leave the Riviera, and was angling for a switch to the European champions.

And AS have revealed today that the goalscorer has admitted to those closest to him that he will be joining Carlo Ancelotti’s side this summer.

The paper quotes an unnamed member of the Colombian national team saying: “Falcao’s future is in God’s hands – and in this case God is [Real Madrid President Florentino] Perez.”

Madrid are thought to be in the process of extending Karim Benzema’s contract at the club, so signing Falcao would seemingly break up what has been a superb front line for the club.

Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo were in sensational form last time out, but if the President has his way, that could be broken up to make way for the former Atletico Madrid man.

The sports daily also claims that Falcao is so desperate to leave Monaco, that he is willing to half his salary of €14m to join the Merengues.
