Dani Alves has said Spain’s early exit from the World Cup is a warning to every other country as to the dangers of the tournament.
La Roja play their final game tomorrow against Australia, having lost two out of two thus far, first against the Netherlands and then Chile.
Australia have also lost both games and the sides meet to decide who will finish third and fourth in the group.
Alves, whose Brazil side also play their last group game on Monday, said at a Press conference that Spain’s departure damages the competition.
“It’s a shame. I’m sorry for my teammates who play in that team. It’s a lesson for everyone,” the Barcelona right-back said, according to Marca.
“The lesson is that it’s a very difficult competition, although in theory it might seem easy.
“It’s a demonstration and for one thing to happen, you can go out.”
Brazil need at least a point to guarantee their place in the next round – they top Group A as it stands, with Cameroon already eliminated.
Mexico and Croatia meet in the group’s other game, with a draw enough for the former but a victory either way will send the winners through.
