Barca told to pay €70m for Higuain?

Napoli won’t consider selling Gonzalo Higuain for less than €70m amid reports of interest in the striker from Barcelona.

AS cite claims from Gazzetta dello Sport that say Barca have bid €55m for the former Real Madrid forward but Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis will only let him go for substantially more.

Higuain moved to San Paolo from Santiago Bernabeu last summer but speculation has mounted that Barca have identified the Argentina international as the front man to lead the line under Luis Enrique.

Napoli paid €40m and got 24 goals in 46 games in return. Higuain has emerged as Barca’s preferred signing after it became clear Sergio Aguero would remain at Manchester City and the move has the backing of Lionel Messi.

The clubs announced today they would play a pre-season friendly on August 6, in Geneva, with Higuain mentioned by de Laurentiis as one of the Napoli players who will take part.
