Courtois future still not decided

Thibaut Courtois has reiterated that his Chelsea future has not yet been confirmed, claiming that he will only know after the World Cup.

The Belgium international has been on loan at Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons, and has become an integral part of Diego Simeone’s title-winning XI.

He has previously admitted that he wouldn’t go back to the Premier League side to be a back-up for Petr Cech.

And the 21-year-old has insisted that his club future will be discussed when the tournament in Brazil is over.

“When will I know about my future? It will be after the World Cup I think, then everything will be clear,” he is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

“I spoke to him [Jose Mourinho] in May, before the game against Barcelona. In the week he discussed with me what he thinks about me and about everything. That is it.

“Do I want to number one wherever I play next season? Yes, I think with my age and the performances I had I want to play. To be on the bench is not the nicest thing.

“I had four incredible seasons already, one with my team in Belgium and three with Atletico so I can be very happy.

“Last year to be champion in Spain and play in the final of the Champions League was great.”
