Neymar was thrilled to score twice for Brazil in the opening game of the World Cup as the hosts beat Croatia 3-1.
Croatia took the lead when Real Madrid’s Marcelo put into his own net, but a long-range effort from Neymar, followed by a penalty, but Brazil in front before Oscar completed the scoring.
“I feel a great happiness,” AS reports Neymar as saying after the final whistle. “It was better than I could have imagined.
“I expected victory but to get two goals was a big happiness.
“We have to play naturally without thinking too much. Don’t use our heads too much. If you worry about the worst, you don’t play your football.
“I wanted to put the penalty to the left but it was difficult. I hoped [the goalkeeper] had fragile hands so I could score the goal.”
