Report: Valdes’ Monaco move off

Victor Valdes will not be moving to Monaco, according to reports in the French Press this morning.

The goalkeeper opted not to renew his contract at Barcelona last season, and will leave the club on a free in the summer.

Stories had indicated that the Spain international had signed a pre-contract agreement with the Ligue 1 side, but L’Equipe have revealed that the Riviera team have decided not to take up that option with the shot-stopper.

Following his cruciate ligament injury in April, Valdes is set to miss at least the first two months of the next season – something Monaco are not willing to gamble on.

Arsenal are the other team thought to be interested in for the former Blaugrana man.
