Neymar: Not perfect but not bad

Barcelona’s Neymar has described his first season with the Catalan giants as not perfect, but not bad.

The Brazilian cut a frustrated figure at times during his maiden campaign at Camp Nou, but thinks that all things considered it has been a satisfactory year.

Speaking to Red Bulletin, the 22-year-old also praised teammate Lionel Messi, saying he is a great person as well as player.

“Messi surprised me on every pitch,” Neymar said. “Before I arrived here I heard some bad things about him, about how he was very reserved and never spoke to anyone.

“Now I see everything completely differently. Other than being a genius, off the pitch he is 100 per cent with me.

“And not just with me, when you see how he treats others it shows you how good he is. I have nothing bad to say about him.

“It wasn’t perfect [the season] but it wasn’t bad either. It’s the first time I have lived outside my country. I miss my friends and family.

“It was difficult at the start but I learned a lot of things professionally as well as personally. I learned something from every player and I adapted my style.

“Some people are good on the pitch and others behave very well in training. I have incorporated everyone’s qualities.”
