Blatter hits out at ‘racist’ Press

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has hit out at the ‘racist’ British Press after allegations that corruption ensured Qatar won the 2022 World Cup.

The Sunday Times revealed two weeks’ ago that leader of the Qatari Football Federation Mohammed Bin Hamman had allegedly bribed several officials to vote for the Arab state to win the right to host the tournament.

Since then, a number of FIFA’s lead sponsors have called for a thorough investigation into the matter, despite the Qatari authorities insisting that Bin Hamman had no official role.

But the leader of the game’s governing body has claimed that these stories are discriminatory.

“There is a sort of storm against FIFA relating to the Qatar World Cup," Blatter told reporters.

“Sadly there's a great deal of discrimination and racism.

“It really makes me sad.”
