Dani Alves believes that Spain are the favourites to lift the World Cup, but backs Brazil, Argentina and Germany to challenge.
The Barcelona defender has claimed that the defending champions are the ones to beat at this summer’s tournament, but insists that his side can have their say.
“The ones who are defending the title are Spain, and they are the main favourites,” he told reporters
“I like them.
“I admire Germany also, they have lots of very good players. Argentina have an amazing attack. And Brazil.
“I'd put us up there because we're playing at home. The people are with the national team, and the national team are with the people.
Brazil open up the tournament against Croatia on Thursday, and the full-back believes that game will be key.
“Starting in a World Cup is always complicated, hard and important.
“When you start well… The rest of the competitors are watching. I think it's the most important match in a World Cup, along with the final.”
