Lukaku looking for Chelsea exit

Atletico Madrid target Romelu Lukaku wants to leave Chelsea this summer because of the amount of strikers at the Premier League club.

AS cites a report from Sky Sports in which Lukaku reveals why he left Stamford Bridge last summer for a loan spell with Everton, and speaks of his fear of the same problem for next season.

“I remember going into the locker room last season at Chelsea and I saw Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba…I said ‘whoa, what’s going on here?’” Lukaku said.

“Chelsea sign a striker every year so maybe they’ll want to sell me.

“Now I have to think about myself and have a great World Cup. That’s interesting for players seeking a transfer and I must be one of them, right?

“I’m not a young player. I’m a striker who is valued and I want to play.”

It has been claimed in the Spanish Press that Atletico will try to take Lukaku on loan for next season to account for the loss of Diego Costa – to Chelsea.

The money saved by loaning Lukaku, rather than spending big on a new striker, would be put towards the signing of Juventus’ Chile international midfielder Arturo Vidal.
