Cameroon WC squad in pay dispute

The Cameroon World Cup squad has refused to fly to Brazil after a row with the federation over bonuses.

According to reports in the Guardian, L’Equipe claims the players have remained at the hotel in the capital, Yaounde, rather than board a plane bound for Brazil.

Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is among the group, as is ex-Barca striker Samuel Eto’o.

The players have been offered bonuses but are said to be unhappy with them as they feel they are too low. It’s also claimed that a strike was nearly called two weeks ago while tensions have risen among the players.

Cameroon are in Group B along with hosts Brazil, Croatia and Mexico, their first opponents, with the match due to take place on June 13.
