‘Neymar surprises every day’

Brazil Coach Felipe Scolari has revealed he is surprised by the talent of Neymar every day in training.

Neymar netted as the World Cup hosts warmed-up for the tournament with a 4-0 win over Panama last night, converting a long-range free-kick to open the scoring.

“Neymar is a player that every day surprises with something different,” Scolari said after the match, according to AS.

“He’s different from the rest and his improvisation is fast. Every Coach in the world would love to have Neymar in their ranks and I wouldn’t be surprised to see great things from him in the tournament.

“Neymar hasn’t played much since he was injured and wanted to play 90 minutes even after he was booked because he needed to get in shape to play.

“He needs more playing time so he will play on Friday against Serbia.”

Scolari added that he wants Neymar to avoid being drawn in to confrontations with members of the opposition.

“We’re working with him in that aspect,” the former Chelsea manager confirmed.

“Opponents will provoke him but he can’t react.”
