Falcao out of World Cup

Colombia have named their 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup, including two Liga based players.

Elche’s Carlos Sanchez and Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca are in the travelling party that will go to Brazil this summer.

However, the South American side will be without their talismanic striker Radamel Falcao, who has failed to recover in time from knee ligament damage.

“I do not want to take the place of a team-mate who is at 100 per cent,” the goalscorer told reporters.

Colombia are in Group C alongside Japan, Ivory Coast and Greece.
