Brazil captain Thiago Silva has backed Barcelona forward Neymar to be one of the stars of the summer’s World Cup.
Mundo Deportivo report that Silva told a Sao Paolo newspaper that his compatriot would be the player to shine brightest at the tournament.
He added, however, that if Brazil are to achieve their dream of landing the trophy on home soil, the team effort will be most crucial.
“Our strength has always been the collective quality of our group,” the Paris Saint-Germain defender said.
“But certainly Neymar is a triumph of individuality.
“We’re good as a team, we’re ready and we hope to have a great World Cup.
“Neymar will be the World Cup’s star.”
Silva, who rated Germany, Argentina and Spain as Brazil’s biggest threats and Italy and Uruguay as potential dark horses, vowed to claim the World Cup for his country.
“We have confidence we can win,” he said.
“I will do it for all of us, all Brazilians, to live that special moment.”
