Filipe’s agent confirms Chelsea interest

The agent of Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has confirmed Chelsea want to sign his client but the champions don’t want to sell.

AS reports Garcia Quilon as saying there is an offer from the Premier League club but Atletico are intent on keeping together the team that just won the title.

Quilon also declined to say if the left-back was happy with Atletico’s stance, or if he wanted to move to England.

“The interest is there but Atletico won’t sell,” Quilon said after leaving Vicente Calderon following talks with the club’s higher-ups.

“They are determined to keep most of the team for next season. We’ll see what happens with different players but the intention is not to sell anyone.”

Chelsea are understood to be looking for a replacement for Ashley Cole, who left Stamford Bridge at the end of the season when his contract wasn’t renewed.

Garcia Quilon is likely to be a figure who crops up a lot this summer as he also represents Mario Suarez. AS add that the midfielder has offers from Europe but the situation is the same in his case as in Filipe’s.

Pepe Reina, the Liverpool goalkeeper who spent the season on loan at Napoli, is also a Quilon client and is said to be a contender to replace Thibaut Courtois at the Calderon should the Belgium international return to Chelsea.

Quilon confirmed that Reina would be back on Merseyside and said no more about his future, but AS say Reina’s contract with the Reds is so big it would be a struggle for Atletico to afford.
