Ter Stegen signs for Barca

German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has officially signed for Barcelona, it has been confirmed.

The 22-year-old arrives from Borussia Monchengladbach and is the first signing of the Luis Enrique era at Camp Nou. Having flown into El Prat airport this morning, he put pen to paper in the last hour to complete the formalities of the move from his homeland.

Hs contract will see him remain with the Catalan giants until 2019, with Barca viewing him as the long-term successor to the outgoing Victor Valdes.

“I have been at Borussia Monchengladbach for 18 years, but life will go on,” Ter Stegen said yesterday about his departure.

“It is an unusual feeling because I will miss Borussia. I am very excited about my next challenge. I want to try something new and rise to the task.”

The youngster will speak to the media for the first time as a Barca player this afternoon at a Press conference.
